News for Graydar

Gray Magician got the green light April 27 to head to Kentucky after breezing five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 at San Luis Rey Training Center in preparation for the May 4 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1).

Breaking alertly from post 5 under Jon Court as the 8/5 favorite, Gray Attempt quickly established command and posted unpressured opening fractions of :22.63 and :45.94. Hitting the top of the stretch with no challenger in sight, Gray Attempt hit high gear and took off with ease.

Gray Magician put himself on the RADAR when finishing a strong 2nd in the Group 2 $2.5 Million UAE Derby last Saturday. The son of GRAYDAR out of Burg Berg is a half brother to the G3 winner Lombo and was bred by Twin Creeks Farm. Trained by Peter Miller and owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Gray Magician took the wide path around the oval , circling his rivals, and finished strong gaining ground with every step towards the wire. He just missed the win by a head giving the Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners a thrilling performance as well earning respect as a top 3yr old.

Graydar's 3-year-old colt Gray Attempt won his 2019 debut in Friday's $150,000 Smarty Jones S. at Oaklawn Park in his first step on the Triple Crown
