American Pharoah Becomes 12th Triple Crown Winner

It’s over! Horse racing’s 37-year affair with frustration has ended.American Pharoah lit up Belmont Park with a wire-to-wire victory in the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday. In doing so, the 3-year-old colt ended the longest drought in Triple Crown history, 37 years, since Affirmed in 1978. And he proved that, indeed, this feat is achievable, as long as a horse comes along capable of doing it.
