Mission Impazible Gets First Stakes WInner

New York-based freshman sire MISSION IMPAZIBLE got his first black-type stakes winner June 10 when SILVER MISSION captured the $200,000 Tremont Stakes at Belmont Park

The 2-year-old colt out of Nashinda, by Silver Deputy, became Mission Impazible’s first winner earlier in the year, when he won a $100,000 maiden special weight event April 21 at Aqueduct Racetrack.

In the Tremont’s short field of four, Silver Mission broke cleanly and took a quick lead that he never relinquished. He rolled through early fractions of :22.99; :45.89, and :57.61 before widening the winning margin to six lengths. The final time for 5 1/2 furlongs was 1:03.78.

“It was pretty easy,” Velazquez said. “He broke well coming out of there. He got to the lead and he kept going. He handled it very well.”
